After a misty and windy start the sun eventually came out on Terry
Thornton's (Treasurer) trophy shield at Biggin Hill. The wind played havoc
on the testing "crossers", and the high driven birds were extremely
difficult between the showers. An exciting finish resulted in a shoot off,
which was won by the veteran Paul Gater.

in
a shoot-off for all the top four positions.

A big thanks to our sponsors Barnsby Saddles
for the Shield and the cartridges.

16: Top Express Cartridge Day 7th.
October
The dreaded "down the line" formed part of the 50 bird layout in the Express
sponsored shoot. Despite this, and windy conditions playing havoc with the
"minis" from the pit, some good scores were achieved.

A class
1st. Patrick Collins 35
2nd. Paul Gater 30
B class
1st. Stuart Marnoch 39
2nd. Barry Harradine

17: Top Napier sponsored shoot. 20th October
A surprising number of shooters turned up for the Napier sponsored shoot, bearing in mind
heavy rain and gales was forecasted for this Saturday competition. Dave Cross
and Neil Hucks put on an extremely difficult lay-out, particularly the "driven"
into the pit, with the trap positioned just 20 yards out! The results were
equally formidable with the first three totals averaging an amazing 80 p.c.
The results were as follows
1st. Terry Thornton 41 (equal to his age)
2nd. Patrick Collins 40 (who forgot his camera)
3rd. Dave Cross 39 (well he did set it up)
Thank to our Sponsor Napier for the
various prizes, and to all those involved.

18: Beretta Shoot 4th November
More Photos
Beretta laid out some nice prizes for their sponsored shoot on Sunday
4th. November (although we are still waiting for a Beretta "Silver Pigeon"
for each of the top three guns!) The layout consisted of a 20 bird down the
line, and a 30 bird flush over 5 traps , well done Dave and Neil! Smoke
drifted over the field from the remnants of a Bonfire Party, but in no way
did it deter the keen turnout, (One of the highest in recent months).
The results were as follows
1st Stuart Marnoch 40

2nd Terry Thornton 32

3rd Barry Harradine with a respectable 30.

Class results were as follows
A.Class
1st. Stuart Marnoch
2nd. Barry Harradine
B. Class
1st. Paul Gater (are you sure you're a B Paul !)
2nd Dave Cross
C class
1st Terry Thornton (definitely not a C)
2nd. Barry Etheridge.
As they say a good day was had by all, and it was interesting to see some
new faces, and also new club members. Obviously our thanks to Beretta for
their sponsorship. (All pics Patrick Collins)

19: Chris Wallace trophy 17th November Top

Quite a few new faces appeared for the Chris Wallace trophy over 50 Birds.
As always it was a testing set up enjoyed by all, well nearly all.
Patrick Collins was in typical confident mood, not only did he say to Howard
before the shoot that he was not leaving without the trophy, but also
invited his mother all the way down from Yorkshire to see him win it!! Cheek
of the man! Joking aside I know Chris and Patrick were fairly close, and it
was fitting that he took first prize.
The results were as follows
1st. Patrick Collins 37
2nd. Neil Hucks 35
3rd. Terry Thornon 34

20: Turkey Shoot 3rd December Top
Most members had told their wives to hold their Christmas Turkey order,as
everyone was confident they would be in for the 'goodies'put on by Howard and
Nesta for the annual "Turkey Shoot" at Biggin Hill on the 3rd December. The
shoot was a 50 bird 'flush'using six traps, shooting in pairs, having been drawn
out of the hat. After Paul Gater and Dave Cross were "paired", following the
groans it was a fight for second and third position. Scores were reasonable, but
typically for a flush not as high as a normal sporting layout (but much more
fun!) Everyone had a great morning and were most appreciative to the work and
thought that Dave and Neil put in to the set up.
Thanks to Patrick Collins for the brilliant pictures.
Results were as follows
1st. Paul Gater and Dave Cross 33/50

2nd. Patrick Collins and Neil Hucks 29/50

3rd. Terry Thornton and Brett Lashbrook 28/50

21: Pre Xmas Shoot Pics to follow Top
A very low turnout was seen on Saturday, not because of the weather,
although it was freezing, but to last minute presee buying, for the
Christmas celebrations. Having won a turkey on the previous Sunday shoot,(on
the orders of his wife!) Paul Gater unusually turned up for a Saturday shoot
on the pretext of delivering a microwave for the club, and duly took first
prize in the pool shoot. It was enough to buy his wife a Crisee present so
well done Paul, we were all there to help you out! Dave Cross, set up alone,
and did well with some really interesting tough "birds" (Not as tough as the
one he won with Paul at the Turkey Shoot) Scores were as follows
1st Paul Gater 40
2nd Patrick Collins 36
3rd. Dave Cross 34

22: The Tony Gargiulo Trophy
30th December
It was a difficult shoot with several very good club members
recording uncharacteristically low scores; Paul Gator was trailing with 29
(very odd). Barry Etherton, normally a top shot wallowed with a score of
just 18 while Neil Hucks spent most of the morning giving lessons and came
through with a quickie round to score 32 and take top "B".
Thanks to Patrick Collins for the pictures.
