67: Saturday January 10th New Year Shoot
Here are the results for the shoot on Saturday,
Saturday's shoot was a practice day with a few 'new faces' taking lessons' and
safety instruction.
The rest of the boys and girls peered out into the fog attempting to find not
the clays, but the stands!!
Yes it was that bad, about 25 yards vision, make that 10 yards on the left
to right looping crosser, which could only be seen with the aid of ten
spotters! However it was all good fun and made the shoot interesting to say
the least. The shoot finished a about 12.45 and yes, you guessed it, the fog
lifted and the sun came out, just as we were leaving the car park!
Scores were as follows
1st. Patrick C.
2nd. Barry E.
Joint 3rd. Mike S. & Dave and Adrian.

68: Sunday January 25th Clayshooting Magazine
Trophy
The Sunday shoot was for the Clay Magazine Trophy.
This is calculated over two shoots this year
The second stage being on the 22nd. February. It was quite a difficult
layout as the scores showed. One of the more 'interesting stands was a left to
right,
and right to left, quartering pair, SIMULTANEOUSLY, yes, at the same time! The
average
score on this stand was about 3 to 4 for the 10 birds. Stuart M managed a
magnificent 8 here, and he ended up the' high gun' for the day. The overall
set up was excellent, and our thanks to Matt, Neil and Dave, which again,
but not for them there would not be a shoot.
As mentioned Stuart M was first in this section, with Barry H in close
second, the other places went to Brian I. and Dave C.

Top
69: Saturday February 7th Laurona Trophy
Saturday saw the popular Laurona Trophy Shoot.
This was over 6 stands and was the normal 50 bird shoot. What a turnout on this
chilly February morning! There was probably about 30 guns out in the field which
was very high for a Saturday Shoot. Testing birds all round with Paul G. gracing
our presence (for a Saturday) shooting an excellent 40 to take high gun and the
Trophy! Following close in second and third, was Patrick C. (last years winner)
and Mike S. Thanks to everyone who took part.
Note.
If you follow these reports I would be grateful if you could e-mail Terry

70: Sunday February 22nd Clay shooting
Magazine Trophy
Despite the cold, Northerly (so I was told) wind. there was one of the
largest turnouts at Biggin Hill on Sunday for the
Clay Shooting Magazine
Winter series 2004 trophy.
Dave C. was on his own to-day but managed to set up some very testing
stands, particularly the left and right crosser on report. The left bird
was only visible for the last 15 yds by which time it was about 2 feet off
the ground!! Thanks Dave! We are still looking for some help in setting
up (even if it is only once a month) See Dave if you can help.
Club Results were as follows :-
A Class
1st. Stuart M.
2nd. Barry E.
3rd.Barry H
B. Class
1st. Mike S
2nd. Patrick C
3rd Keith D.
C. Class
1st. Trevor H.
2nd. Terry M.
3rd George M.
Scores of note on the day were Phil H. and the veteran Paul G. each scoring
just under 80 %.
This was a competition over two shoots this year and the combined top gun
was Stuart M. So congratulations to Stuart, whose trophy cabinet is filling
up pretty quickly.!

71: Saturday March 6th
uzuki Grand Prix Team Trophy
Sunday saw the annual Suzuki shoot so thanks to
Garry and Team
MotoGP Suzuki for the Trophy and
good luck for the first race on the 18th April in South Africa.
Testing stands all round for this normal 50 bird shoot, and even the rain and
sleet could not deter the 30 odd guns that turned up in the morning Barry E. and
Dave C. both scored an impressive 76 % , Terry M. was in second spot with 76%,
with the high gun on the day (after some earlier tuition from Terry T) going to
the veteran Paul G. with a score of 40.
Thanks to Dave and Matt for the 'set up'.

72 Sunday March 21st BH
Wingate Competition
Sunday saw the first stage of the Wingate Competition. This was the mother of
all shoots, not exceptionally difficult, but coincided with Mother's day. This,
I expect, was the main reason for the slightly less than normal turnout. Again
the weather threw its normal Biggin Hill tantrums, with heavy gusts, rain, and
sleet, throughout the morning, testing even the ardent shooter! Towards the end
the sun shone for about 5 minutes, heralding in the first day of spring, or more
importantly the last day of Winter!
Anyway, enough of the weather, the second and third stage of this competition
are on the 3rd. April and 1st. of May respectively. This was a testing set up,
driven 'grouse' into the pit, with the with the trap just 20 yds. out!, a right
to left crosser and and simultaneous quartering driven, , and much more to
challenge the entrants. Well done to the boys for the set up.
'High gun'. on the day was the 'on form' Stuart M. with Darrel being victorious
in the shoot off with Barry H. for the second and third places.
The club results were as follows
1st. A Stuart M.
2nd A. Darrel
1st. B. Nigel L.
2nd B. Terry T.
1st C Matt D.
2nd C Jan J.

73: Shoot Dinner 04
'Shoot Dinner 2004
Pictures'
The Old Bakery in Tatsfield was the venue , same as last year, for the
BHCPSC Cub Dinner and Annual Trophies. Again this was a superb evening, the
food was excellent, and the drink seemed to flow all night, and more, for
some people, present company accepted. Thank you to the owner. Andrew, and
all his staff, for all their efforts in making this a memorable evening.
Howard handed out bouquets to Rosemary and Pam for their work for the
club, over the year, and similarly, champagne to Dave, Matt, and Terry. Neil
H. also received his Champagne, and was quite happy to hobble on his
crutches to collect his reward. Well done Neil!, and we hope you fully
recover soon. Also thank you to Helena for the raffle.
Only 10 points separated the top two shooters this year, with the top spot
again going to the veteran Paul G., and the younger Stuart M. hot on his
heels!! Barry E.. crept up over the year from 5th.. to 3rd., so well done
mate and mind those ribs!
Results were as follows
1st Paul G.
2nd. Stuart M.
3rd. Barry E.
4th. Dave C..
5th. P. Collins
6th. Barry H.

74: Saturday April 3rd BH Wingate Trophy
The second stage of the Wingate competition was the order of the day on
Saturday. Despite the absence of Neil H. (who unfortunately broke his leg and
pelvis) on holiday, {some holiday} I here you say, Dave and Matt set up a
terrific layout and compliments were to be heard all round the ground.
As always this was over 50 birds with a bateaux type teal being deceptively
difficult, together with the 'interesting' driven into the pit. It was an
enjoyable morning with just two points separating the top five!!, Paul G.
was the high gun on the day, and all scores are added on to the list for the
final shoot on the 1st. of May.
Thank you to a couple of the members (names escape me) who kindly helped
Dave and Matt put away and clear up after the shoot.

Top
75: Sunday April 18th Eley Sponsored Day
Thank you to Eley cartridges for sponsoring our club shoot on Sunday, and I
don't know who to thank for the abysmal weather, never seen so much consistent
rain, from start to finish!!
It was the London Marathon Day, and it was some marathon to get round the
water-logged field and horizontal rain.
The winner in 2 hours and five minutes was Stuart M. who did arrive slightly
late, and managed a magnificent score of 44. It appears the coaching he has
taken recently from Terry T. has really paid dividends! Paul G. and Mike S. were
joint 2nd/3rd with 41 and really didn't want to get even wetter by shootin off.
Other scores of note were Dave C with 39 and Nigel L with 38. The other 20 or so
guns also shot well and later took shelter for a nice cup of tea with Rosey.
Keep your powder dry.....................

76: Saturday May 1st BH
Wingate Competition
The third and final stage of the Wingate Shoot took place on Saturday.
Surprisingly there was a low turn out of members, but quite a few non-members
took part, which was pleasing, as they were, when a few received unexpected, but
deserved, trophies at the end of the shoot. So thank you to everybody who took
part in this
tri-part competition.
Stuart M. was again on form scoring a magnificent 86%, taking his overall total
to 116, which I think is probably one of the highest for some years,
In second place was Dave C. with 3rd. place going to Nigel L. who scored an
excellent 40 on the day, fourth position went to Brian I.
Thanks to Dave and Mat for the set up, and also to Paul G. whom supplied
all the trophies for his shoot, who incidentally shot a not so surprising 112
over the competition!!

Top
77: Sunday May 16th Secretary's Trophy
Sunday saw the unique Secretary Shoot, unique because at present we haven't
appointed a Secretary! Anyway enough of the jokes, even the weather was unique,
as it didn't rain!
PaulG. Stuart M. and Dave C. shot uniquely scoring 44, 40 and 40 respectively.
Don't be fooled this was not an easy layout, far from it, the right to left
crossers high and low, were extremely difficult, as were the high driven from
the pit at 20 yds. There was of course a shoot out for third and fourth
positions, this was on the dreaded bateau, not so for Stuart scoring an
unbeatable seven.
Positions were as follows,
1st. Paul G.
2nd Stuart M
3rd. Dave C.
4th. Darrel
5th. Keith D.
6th. Barry E.
Thanks as always to Dave and Mathew for setting up.

78: Saturday May 29th Independent Magazines Club Shoot
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we unfortunately left off the report
for the above shoot last month.
It was won by the magnificent Nigel L. with a score of 39. In second place was
Dave C. and third was Darrel C who scored 37.Congrats to you all !!

79: Sunday June 13th Gamebore Sponsored Day
When Fabio Bartez was at Manchester United he played with David Beckham. During
training Beckham, over the period, probably took about 500 penalties during
practice, with Fabio in goal. So Bartez should have a good idea by Beckham's
body language, which corner he was going to kick at. Seems obvious to me that
somebody else should have taken the penalty. Hey, but what do I know I can't
even shoot clays!
The morning was definitely the more pleasing part of the day, where in glorious
sunshine about 30 guns took part in the Gamebore Sponsored Shoot. It was nice to
see some of the Dads and their off spring taking part, Keith and his son Paul, a
novice who scored 70% on his first shoot, also Steve and Josh, and of course
Paul G. and his son Terry T.
Matt and Neil did well on the 'set up' with difficult 'birds' all round,
especially bateaux from the pit, thanks boys.
Shot of the day goes to Stuart M who 'killed' a pair with one shell!! Not that
difficult I hear you say, but this pair were a high crosser followed by 6 foot
below and behind crosser. We all thought that stuart has a sniper in another
stand. Needless to say with Shooting like that, Stuart was the overall Winner on
90 %. In second place was Paul G. with 82%and in third with 78% was the intrepid
Keith D .So well done to those guys and thanks to Gamebore for the cartridges.
Lets hope we can now beat Switzerland and Croatia which takes us to the quarter
finals,
which is the day before our popular 'have a go day', don't forget to bring some
friends.

81: Sunday July 11th Browning Sponsored Day

Thank you to Browning for supplying the prizes for their sponsored shoot on
Sunday. It was a great turnout between 25and 30 guns! . Dave, Neil and Mat
excelled themselves, with the help of Sam and Tom, in their set up. Minis,
midis, and standard clays spread all over the 50 bird shoot making it extremely
challenging!
The overall winner on 86% (well he did have an extra hour in bed!!) was Stuart
M. Second was Mike S. with the third slot going to Smither's Dad otherwise known
as Neil H.
Club positions were as follows
A Class 1st. Stuart M. 2nd. Mike S.
B Class 1st. Neil H. 2nd. Brian I.
C Class 1st. Trevor H. 2nd Anne E.
Other prizes handed out at he shoot was to Darrel C. who came fourth in the
Secretary's Trophy and to Patrick C. for his overall 5th. position in
2003.Thanks once again to Browning.

82: Saturday July 24th Practise Day
'Practice' was the order of the day at Biggin Hill on Saturday with fifteeen
to twenty 'guns' shooting the normal 50 bird set up,with some new members Terry,
Luke, and Phil, joining in, and getting some encouragement and instruction from
the club.
'Newish Member' Darrel C. shot brilliantly to score 36 in a friendly pool shoot,
second was Terry T, with Nigel L. hot on the heels with a close third position.
As always thanks to Dave and 'Hoppy' Neil for the excellent set up!

Top
83: Sunday August 8th Treasurer's Shield
Sunday saw the popular Treasurer's Shoot at Biggin Hill, and what a
sizzler!!!
The same shoot last year recorded the highest temperature this century of 37.8
centigrade, at the airport, and this shoot we saw (or rather felt) 32 degrees.
It was so hot that even Brian I. missed out on his normal bacon/sausage combo.
Paul G shot well and was high gun on the day with Peter T. and Stuart M. also
shooting well, but, the Trophy shoot was handicapped resulting in some amazing
differences. A Shooters lost 8 points off their final score, B Shooters lost 2,
and C. Shooters were credited with an extra 10.
Actual final scores without the handicap obviously go into the yearly total.
Final results were as follows
Treasurers Shield
1st. Jan G. 2nd.Peter T. 3rd. Paul G. who were C. B. and A shooters respectively
In fourth position was Tom Mc. 5th. Nigel L. after a shoot off with George who
took the6th. spot.
Club shoot
1st. A Paul G. 2nd. Stuart M.
1st. B Peter T. 2ndNigel L.
1st C. Jan G. 2nd. Tom Mc.
Thanks to Mat and Dave for the set up (especially the pit), and to all the 30
participants.

"Smile Please, Patrick you came second well done." |

"The Champ" Darrel C. |
We were going to have just a normal Pool/ Practice shoot at Biggin hill on
Saturday, until Mat C. discovered two prizes that Dudley had bought up to the
shoot, sometime ago, which we ashamedly, had not used in a specified shoot.
Dudley makes ( to order), amongst other items,( wooden specialities). His firm
are alleged to be one of the top in the South East for such work. (I think I got
that right, but apologies if not.) The two prizes were a wooden functional pen
in the shape of one of the classic ball points, and a large wooden 'clay' with
an actual clay inlaid, the workmanship had to be seen to be believed..
Twenty guns took part in the competition trying to better our shooting team
effort in the Olympics!
Shot over 6 stands the 50 bird layout was challenging to say the least, and the
scores were impressive with the first four contestants averaging just under 75%.
Patrick C. beat Paul G. in the shoot off for second place, and the 'high gun'
going to Darrel C. Thanks to Dudley for the prizes.

85: Sunday September 5th Saddlery & Gunroom
Trophy
1st place Paul G |
In very close
second Stuart M |
and even closer
3rd. Dave C. |
Paul G. and Stuart M. were the stars at this year's Saddery and Gun Room trophy.
Stuart scored a magnificent 42 on a very testing layout (yes I know, I always
say that, but 20 other shooters all agreed with me this time!!) Paul, just
pipped him to the post, with a 43, which took the trophy on the day. Well done
to the pair of them. Simon, and Malcolm (the one with the hat) had a personal
side bet between them, it obviously put the pressure on as they both scored 34,
together with Dave C.to take third fourth and 5th positions (to be decided on a
shoot off) as two, unfortunately, had to leave early. The Shop apologises, as
there was a mix up regarding the trophies, and, all being well, will be handed
out by Howard at the next Sunday Shoot.

Sponsored Shoot
Barnsby
were our sponsors for the Sunday Shoot. As mentioned before they are suppliers
to the shop of Saddlery, riding apparel, and various other products As these
are not related to Shooting we are grateful for the sponsorship, so if anyone is
thinking of taking up riding, you know where to go!!
The Air show coincided with the shoot this year, and we discovered that the jets
need about a half mile lead! Low cloud and some rain curtailed some of the
displays, but, not, the displays put on at the shoot!!!
.It was a most varied, and testing layout, as was proved by the relatively low
scores. The 'Top Gun' position went to Mike S. who flew round the field and
shot 70% to take the Annual
Barnsby Shield and trophy. Paul G. was second after a shoot off with
Daryl C. Lower places were as follows, 4th. Patrick C. 5th. Barry E. and 6th.
position went to the intrepid Keith D. Congratulations to you all, and thanks to
all the competitors, and of course thanks to
Barnsby for the sponsorship,
and last of all thanks to my fans, if it were not for them..............

87: Sunday October 3rd
Bisley Sponsored Day
Sunday saw a new sponsored shoot at Biggin Hill. 'Bisley, not the shooting
ground, but Bisley, who supply various
shooting products, some of which they kindly supplied for prizes in this shoot.
The weather was quite mild for early autumn with some showers and late sunshine
perfect for the Chelsea game in the afternoon, but also perfect weather for
shooting this 50 bird layout
.A lot of shooters found stand 6 deceptive. These were slow pairs right to left
over the hedge from about 20 yds out. As the clays appeared over the hedge they
seemed a lot faster, and most missed, were in front, which is very unusual for a
crosser. What was not unusual was the high score of Stuart M. who scored a
tremendous 76% to take 'high gun'. In Second position was Dave C. with the third
spot going to Terry T. after a s/o with Patrick C.
Club positions were as follows
A. 1st. Stuart M. 2nd. Dave C.
B 1st. Terry T. 2nd Brian I.
C. 1st. Gerry 2nd Tom (Yes that was the correct way round!)
Yes, and before you ask, Paul G. was at the shoot!
Thanks once again to Bisley for
sponsoring our shoot.

Top
88: Saturday October 16th Napier Sponsored Day
Thank you to Napier for supplying the prizes in their sponsorship of our
shoot on Saturday.
Neil H. is back with his wobbly leg and helped Dave C. and Matt with the layout
today. While away he has obviously been working on his computer driven
trajectories, as some of the clays were very interesting to say the least. The
simultaneous 'going away' and driven quartering bird about 50 yards out was
extremely testing, as was the overhead pair from the 'pit' which appeared
sidewise on, not forgetting the left to right low crosser, followed by the teal
in the right hand pit!!! It was a marvellous layout enjoyed by all, so again
thanks to Matt, Dave, and Neil.
Terry T shot his best for some time, and I mean for some time, with a tremendous
76%, and was High Gun. First prize was a Beretta 682 field, which, because Terry
already had one, was politely turned down for some glasses, and cleaning
equipment . Second spot went to Neil H. and Simon took the third position with a
respectful 68%

89: Sunday October 31st
Beretta Sponsored Day
A light mist lifted over the BHCPSA shoot on Sunday and revealed some 40 odd
participants out on the course!! This shoot was sponsored by
Beretta, who
kindly put up some prizes for this 50 bird contest.
The pit seemed to catch a few people with a driven towards you, from the
trap at about 20 yards out. It was slightly quatering and was as fast as
f....... Ferrari motors!!. Another 'interesting' stand was a pair right to left
simultaneous crosses. The first clay was slightly looping high and about 20 yds.
out, with the second bird, behind this, by another 20 yards and slightly
slower. Secret here was to take the further out bird first. ( Well that's what
the
veteran Paul G. did, and who wants to argue with him!!) Stuart M. had an
extra 2 hours in bed ( as the clocks went back 1 hour and he was an hour late
(went to pc. world, great technical excuse, reminds me to get my spell check
sorted out}
Anyway enough of the ramblings, Paul G. took the High Gun with Stuart M
taking second spot, with Patrick C. in close third.
Club positions were as follows
A Class 1st. Paul G.
2nd. Stuart M.
B. Class 1st. Barry H
2nd Daryl (after a shoot off)
C. Class 1st Matt
2nd Rupert.
So congratulations to all he winners, and thanks to
Beretta for the goodies!

90: Saturday November 13th Chris Wallace
Memorial Shield
There was a huge turnout on Saturday for the Chris Wallace Memorial Shield,
and deservedly so.
Matt D. was on his own today for the set up, and all together now, "didn't
he do well"!!
Considering it was a bit of a rush his set up was very testing, and most
appreciated by all the shooters. Having worked on the field since about 7.30am
he
was pretty tired, and even had to be persuaded into taking part in the
shoot. this he did and was pleased, as he beat his own previous high score. So
thanks Matt you know it makes sense.
On a more serious note we are looking for volunteers to help in the set up,
so please see Dave, Matt or Neil, if you can help even if it is only once or
twice a year.
Back to the shoot and the number 37 played a big part. Believe it or not
there were 37 shooters taking part, probably the highest number seen on a
Saturday. It was pretty cold at 37 degrees Fahrenheit; it was Terry T's 37th.
birthday, and the winner of the competition, which was high gun only, was Darrel
C. with a Score of 37. Not all true you may say, ok , Terry was really 38.So
well done to Darrel for excellent shooting, and all the 'guns' for taking
part.

91: Sunday November 28th
Turkey Shoot

The long awaited 'Turkey Shoot' took place on Sunday.
I must hasten to add the prizes were Turkeys, not the shooters!, although most
people were frozen at the end of the shoot. Yes, real Turkeys not the plastic
decoy pigeons Charlie Ward tried to hand out many moons ago!!
The entrants shot in pairs, drawn from a hat, over two set ups. One was a 50
bird sporting, and the other a 50 bird flush, this is where four clays are 'put
up' at the same time, in no particular order, for the two shooters. The scores
are obviously added together and only 5 clays separated the first three
positions. There was some excellent shooting by all participants with the
veteran Paul G. being lucky in picking Robin as a partner, who shot like a man
possessed!
Results were as follows
1st. Brett L. and Mike S.
2nd. Robin and Paul
3rd. Barry E. and Dave C.

First Brett L. and Mike S. |

In second place Robin and Paul |

Third, Barry E. and Dave C. |

Thanks to all the boys who set up, and to Howard and Nesta, who supplied the
prizes

92: Saturday December 11th The Tony Gargiulo
Trophy
First of all I would like to thank Matt who singularly set up on Saturday for
the Tony Gargiulo trophy. It can't be easy, 7.30a.m, partially dark, wheeling
those heavy traps out, not mentioning the freezing cold!!. So cheers Matt ,
thanks, from everybody who were at the shoot.
Special thanks also from Stuart M. who scored a magnificent 84%, and as promised
last year, if you win again next year you can keep the trophy! Good news for
Jill as she won't have to polish it anymore, ( that's what Stuart said, Mrs. M.)
Everybody found the tower difficult, this was a 'going way' from under the stand
followed by a right to left bird which was slightly quartering, that was until
new member Bob, (who was shooting with his son Andy) scored a tremendous 8 out
of 10.
This was a high gun only trophy, which went to Stuart M. Other scores of note
were Daryl C. with 39. Bob on 36., and Terry who shot a very attractive 30!!!.
This was the last shoot of the year, so Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to
all the shooters. and to Pam and Rosemary in the club house.
